Banto Font Family is a confident serif font family. It’s characterised by large, sharp, triangular serifs and bold unapologetic shapes. Since its introduction the Latin genre has seen extensive use as a loud display font in advertising and packaging. Interestingly the style is prominent in old spirits packaging, namely whiskey and gin labels.
Banto takes it’s cues from the latin genre but it’s not a revival or even a homage. The shapes are designed in a much more subtle and controlled manner, making the typeface usable in running text as well as display typography. Typographic usability is also apparent in the broad range of styles; six weights with corresponding italics. Contrary to its source of inspiration Banto has a relatively high curve tension which makes rounded shapes appear squarish in appearance, giving the typeface its distinct look.
Banto has twelve styles from Extralight to Extrabold with corresponding italics. All styles have extended latin language support, lining and old style figures, superiors, inferiors and fractions, small capitals, alternate letters and a full set of punctuation/symbols.
