BC Vafle Font Family is a versatile and utilitarian type family originally designed by Czech designer Marek Pistora, first appearing in Živel magazine in 1997. Rooted in a functional, industrial aesthetic, the typeface was inspired by the digitization of a utilitarian insignia found on Luftwaffe aircraft, resulting in a clean, geometric sans-serif with a strong technical character. Over time, the design was refined and expanded into what is now known as Vafle Classic, with improved proportions and a broader character set. Developed further by Briefcase Type, BC Vafle has grown into a comprehensive system of multiple styles—including stencil, shadow, mono, slab-serif, condensed, extended, and decorative variants—offering designers a highly flexible toolkit. Balancing clarity with expressive potential, BC Vafle is well suited for editorial design, posters, branding, and complex typographic systems.
