Carmin Font french word for carmine, is a sans-serif stencil display typeface that revisit Uncial letter forms. Deep and passionate as the color which it refers, the mix of historical shapes and sans-serif design gives to the typeface a particular flavour.
The first inspiration came from an old calligraphic model from the 5th century, where we can barely see the thin parts of the letters. Due to the oldness of the models, the writings were forced to an extreme simplification of the letter-form. Only the heavy parts stayed. The overall texture pleased me and made me want to experiment what could be an Uncial stencil typeface nowadays.
