Delira Font Family

Delira Font Family is a typeface born from the revival of the original Tia Lira font, designed by Manuel Pereira da Silva between 2002 and 2003. Developed as an interpretive exercise, Delira reimagines the spirit of the original design while introducing fresh nuances for contemporary use. The central aim of this project was to transform an experimental and highly expressive display font into a functional typeface for editorial use, with an emphasis on legibility in text bodies between 8 and 12 points. The original font stands out for its bold nature: unstable proportions, varied geometric shapes, high contrast and striking terminals. These characteristics which, although visually striking, compromise its performance in long texts. The challenge was, therefore, to preserve part of this visual identity while redesigning the structure of the font to make it suitable for continuous reading.
