These early grotesques, such as Akzidenz-Grotesk (1896), paved the way for modernist icons like Futura, Gill Sans, and Helvetica. “Alpha” alludes to the first letter of the Greek alphabet and the distinctive form of the lowercase a, symbolizing both origin and identity.
