Missive Bead Font is a grid-based typeface designed to distill legible display serif forms into a systematic language for beaded embroidery. A grid framework was designed to accommodate the proportions of a “bugle bead”, a type of embroidery bead that is longer than it is wide.
The grid is composed of a horizontal, vertical, and a 15-degree diagonal. The inclusion of the diagonal axis allows the natural flow of Missive Serif (Missive Bead’s sibling style), to remain present within the structure of the beaded version.
