NaN SuperX Sans Font Family – NaN SuperX is NaN’s hommage to phototyping era typefaces with a disproportionately big x-height; a system comprising Sans and Serif. All come in 8 weights plus italics in both Latin and Arabic in 3 optical sizes.

NaN SuperX Serif is a high contrast old-style serif with leaf-shaped tear-drops and a dynamic italic rooted in pointed-nib calligraphy. SuperX Serif achieves a balance of vividness and sleekness through its detailing: vivid round shapes, smooth shoulders in the roman and italic; but a sleek angular tail for the /a, sharp apexes for the /V/v/W/w and vertical serifs for the /C/S/sx§/Z/z, etc.

NaN SuperX Sans is a hybrid; a humanist sans with grotesque detailing or the contrary. Its main structure and proportions are borrowed from the Serif, leading to distinct open counters and vertical cuts in the terminals of /a /s /S. Other round letters (/c /e /g) embrace a closed neo-grotesque structure with horizontal terminals, leading to a vivid and surprising character. Quite jolly.

The addition of optical sizes to these families brings their delightful taste to text sizes. In SuperX Text, the X-height and contrast have been slightly decreased, the openings made wider, the metrics looser. The result are sturdier versions of the fonts which keep most of the funk while delivering bulletproof legibility.

SuperX Serif and Sans make a contrasting but matching pair, excelling to set the tone of campaign headlines with a tight line-height.
