Tipo Metro CDMX Font Family. The “Metro CDMX Typeface” was developed by Lance Wyman as part of the “Metro” project in the 1970s and is a key element of the visual culture of the Mexico City Metro (STC Metro). This style has become the iconic symbol of public transportation for residents of Mexico City.
In this edition, the lowercase letters are an “unofficial” adaptation of the Metro CDMX Typeface, enriching the typography with a visual style of uppercase and lowercase letters. Therefore, the original design is omitted to emphasize the lowercase letters exclusively. Additionally, some accented characters have been added, extending its use to other languages. The typefaces are a new proposal by Ixipcalli in 2023.
On September 2, 2025, a further update was made, correcting the margins of two incorrect characters and adding light, bold, and italic variants.
