Zipp Font Family originally started way back in 2013 as my final project for type&media (named Binky back then). I recently started working on it to see how much I’d have to change to get excited about it again. Turns out it was almost everything.
In its new form Zipp mixes influences from Clarendon and classic book faces such as Caslon. It has a slab serif construction underneath but also very clear contrast, teardrop terminals and italics. Despite its historic roots the letter shapes are drawn precise and even sharp in parts to make the typeface look modern and sleek.
The family consists of 16 styles from Extralight to Black with matching italics. Included are the basic character set from a-z, lining figures and punctuation + some basic symbols. Language support and complete symbol set will soon follow in coming updates.
