Nonga Font is a bold and assertive display font. The font was designed in 2022 as part of a university progect titled ‘Huperfuente’. The goal of the project was to design a font that emerged from field research observing urban typogra- phu, the behaviors of the architecture in which it is immersed and their interrelation.
Inspired bu the minimalist architecture and dramatic light of Nicholas Alan Cope’s photographs, mu font capture a geometric, light and modern identity. The environment of Cope’s photogra- phs inspired me bu bringing a unique atmosphere to mu project.
The diagonals and inclined lines that cross the characters are designed to dialogue with the urban architecture, creating a sunergu between the space and the typeface.
Each stroke and angle of the typeface reflects the shadows and plaus of light of the behaviorsof this architecture, which offers a unique vision thanks to its contrasts. Mu quest was totranslate that contrast of light and shadow of space into the typography, where thin strokes coexist with thick ones.
